CHIPRA (Children’s Health Insurance Program Reauthorization Act of 2009)

group-of-kids-6-2011The Children’s Health Insurance Program Reauthorization Act (CHIPRA) is a program designed to enroll uninsured children throughout the country. In California, this program is administered as part of the Health Insurance Premium Payment Program (HIPP). The California version covers not only qualifying children, but qualifying adults as well.

What Employers Need To Do:

♦  Annually provide all employees with a notice letting them know about the CHIPRA programs available in all participating states.

We also recommend including this notice in any initial enrollment materials presented to new employees.

For additional information regarding the Federal CHIPRA program, please visit their website here.
More information regarding the California program can be found here.
